I have been a part of 20/20 leadership for a year now. Overall, I have enjoyed the opportunities and experiences that I have gotten from 20/20 leadership. I was able to meet many people from different schools and got to socialize with them. This got me to get out of the bubble that I made for myself. One of the things that I enjoyed the most was the 20/20 olympics. I feel like in the project we all got to be leaders in some way. Each person had something that they had to be in charge of, so not just one person was in charge. We split the responsibilities between us. Most of the people that were a part of the project I really didn’t talk to before this project. It was nice that we came together and were able to complete our project in a short amount of time. 20/20 taught me that anyone can be a leader and that I was capable of being a leader. I think that I have grown a lot since I first started. Like I said before, I put myself in a bubble so I wasn’t very good at socializing. 20/20 leadership is a big part of me finally coming out of my own bubble. I mostly kept to myself and people that I talked to on the daily. 20/20 pushed me to get out and socialize and meet new people. I am glad that I made the decision to be a part of 20/20 leadership in my junior year of high school.
Seeing as 20/20 leadership got me out of my bubble, I am going to be able to socialize with people that I meet in the future. Communicating is very important and I was not very good at communicating. I had very bad social anxiety. It was to a point where I wouldn’t go out. I hate talking with people that I didn’t know because I always felt like I was being judged. Now, I am able to go out without the feeling of being judged. I have met new people because I am more comfortable. In the future I am going to need to be able to talk with people. What is a leader without being able to communicate with others? I thank 20/20 leadership for the opportunity of being a part of their community as well as help me get out of my comfort zone and making me a better leader.
For me leaving a legacy means leaving an impact on someone or something. This legacy can either be big or small; what matters is the impact that it leaves. Many of us have left some sort of legacy. Some might know that they did, and some don’t. The smallest thing can make such a big impact on a community or a person. I hope that when I am older I can leave a legacy in my community. I want to be able to help people in any way I can. I grew up with my dad leaving impact after impact, slowly leaving a legacy. He has always helped the people around him, even when he was struggling himself. Like I stated before, I want to be able to leave my own legacy, whether it be big or small. Overall, leaving a legacy does mean it has to be something big. What is important is the type of impact this said legacy left.
