Every person is different, with different strengths, weaknesses, and personality traits. Sometimes without the right people to support your dreams and ideas, opening up and succeeding can be very hard. Before I joined 2020 leadership, I was insecure, not knowing my skills and how to use them, afraid of saying something and putting my opinion out there, and unable to think outside the box. As soon as I started being more active in 2020 leadership as a freshman in high school, I noticed my growth and transformation. I learned how to communicate with others and stay motivated. I could use leadership skills I had never used before, but now I feel confident in all areas of my life. I can recognize my strengths and weaknesses and work on them to be a better person. Being able to accept and being able to get feedback on how to improve my skills have been a new part of my growth and development.

2020 leadership has taught me how to communicate better with others, what it means to be a good leader, how to deal with different situations in life, and how to be a team player. Reflecting on my participation in the 20/20 Leadership program, I have grown and learned much more than I ever thought possible. I can use my 2020 leadership skills for my college and career journeys because I can use my skills and learn what kind of person I want to be. Some of the skills I learned were Respect, Communication, Initiative, Loyalty, Persistence, Problem Solving, Analytical Skills, and a Growth mindset. Everyone should know all these skills at one point in life because if people know how to use them and set their minds to zero negativity, they can develop an extraordinary life of success and happiness. I have learned to keep calm and patient under pressure from others, be polite to everyone, be trustworthy, and show respect to everyone around me.

Leaving a legacy to me means leaving your mark, not probably as the best on the planet but as the best of your effort and abilities, leaving a mark for all the hard work you put into something so people can take some of that inspiring behavior from you and use it to learn and grow in their lives whether you need to leave a legacy or look for inspiration in any way, shape, or form. To me, leaving a legacy means that when you go, you will leave a trail of leaves behind you. It means you created a purpose for yourself to live and be a part of something more significant than you could ever have anticipated.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my essay. Many people deserve it, and God will decide who will get it. It would mean a lot to me if I could get the opportunity; I’m only looking to go to college and be someone in life and help people around me, but being a low income and helping my mom with everything and studying and working full time is hard. But thank you for taking the time to read my essay.
