I find myself pulled to the study of business administration as a senior in high school who is about to enter college. This choice is not only the result of a desire for academic knowledge on a personal level; rather, it is motivated by a deep understanding of the critical needs of the black community, including the need for financial literacy and economic empowerment. My desire to pursue a degree in business administration stems from my strong conviction that we can close the economic gaps that still exist in our community by utilizing education and strategic planning.

The black community has a clear need, and one of those demands is economic empowerment. For many African Americans in the past, structural injustices have impeded their ability to advance economically. Generation after generation has been affected by a cycle of poverty that has been sustained by limited access to economic and educational possibilities. Having realized this, I am motivated to work toward a better future by obtaining a business administration degree.

The black community, like any other, needs individuals equipped with the skills to navigate the intricate world of finance, entrepreneurship, and management. Studying business administration provides a comprehensive foundation in these areas, enabling me to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to make informed decisions, whether in the realm of personal finance or at the top of a business.

A key aspect of my intended business education is the focus on financial literacy. By understanding the principles of budgeting, investing, and financial planning, I hope to empower individuals within my community to make sound economic decisions. Insufficient knowledge about finances frequently feeds the cycle of debt and constrains economic opportunity. Equipped with the instruments a business administration degree affords, my objective is to simplify financial ideas and cultivate a financial empowerment culture among the African American community.

Moreover, the entrepreneurial spirit cultivated through a business administration program aligns with the need for increased black owned businesses. Entrepreneurship serves as a vehicle for economic self sufficiency and community development. By starting and supporting black owned enterprises, we can create a more equitable distribution of wealth and resources. My education in business administration will not only provide me with the knowledge to launch and sustain a business but also instill in me the values of ethical and socially responsible entrepreneurship.

The impact of my future education on the black community extends beyond individual financial empowerment and entrepreneurship. A business administration degree equips me with the skills to navigate corporate landscapes, opening avenues for leadership roles where I can advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
