My time in “Youth Lead KC” has been nothing but a blessing for me. It’s allowed me to be in a class with a group of others who have one common goal of being the best they can be. Being in this class has allowed me to be able to learn from others not only how to be a better leader but a person. I’ve been able to go on field trips and different types of workshops allowing me to learn and get connections that I wouldn’t be able to get with your everyday type of class. This class is filled with people you want in your everyday circle. The definition of a leader to me is “Someone who guides, inspires, and influences others to work together toward a shared goal or vision”. Leadership has taught me how to communicate, influence, adapt, and take accountability. This class has helped me develop practical skills and boosted my confidence. It has also taught me that thinking for the future is better than thinking for the present. Leaders don’t just think about what is happening now but they anticipate what could happen later on. I’ve also learned how to influence others in a way that’s positive for everyone. It taught me how to motivate and also forced me to hold myself accountable so that others will see I’m also bought into the common goal we are all trying to achieve. Most importantly I’ve learned and grown in taking accountability. Leaders own, admit, and find solutions to mistakes they have made. I’ll take these skills I’ve learned and hopefully use them one day as I plan to get married and start a family. Leading a family means prioritizing the family’s needs over your own, modeling integrity, and making a safe, loving environment. Creating a structure and plan for what our family stands for is something that I plan to do from the jump. Leading my family and showing my kids how to live a life that is honorable and acceptable to God is my most important goal I have. Leading my wife through sacrifice and loving her like Christ loved the church is also something that is going to be important to me. Being present and modeling a good way of living I think is the best way to influence your kids. Lastly, I think you can leave a legacy by making memories , focusing on relationships, values, and having a lasting impact that outlives you. Passing on wisdom , skills , and knowledge that you’ve learned over the years is also a good way to leave a lasting and positive legacy.  Actions speak louder than words so your everyday little acts of kindness and presence will go a long way in the future. Legacy is about leaving a mark on the world or the lives of others that continue long after you are gone making sure your story, wisdom or contributions and work isn’t lost. Most importantly living a life that is authentic and true is the best way to live a legacy
