My participation in the 20/20 Leadership Program has been a transformative experience for me throughout my leadership skills and personal growth. Throughout the program I engaged with many students and supervisors which helped me to step out of my comfort zone. They have been impactful to my mental growth by helping me with getting better with collaborations with others and be better at teamwork. I learned that effective leadership isn’t about bossing people around and making decisions on your own. Instead, it’s about listening to other people and putting your ideas together to make one group decision that benefits everyone involved. I learned that as a leader, your job is to make everyone comfortable to voice their opinions, empowered, and feel like their ideas and opinions matter as much as everyone else’s.

I will use my leadership skills in the future to help me be better communicate with people. Say I get a job in the future that requires me to work with groups of different people. I can use my leadership skills ti be able to work with people and maybe create a comfortable atmosphere for everyone to feel comfortable about sharing their ideas. Or in college, I will be able to work with my peers and have a good time with them by working together as a team and voicing everyone’s opinions as a group to come up with a decision. By using what I learned, I can better myself as a person and greater my knowledge.
