20/20 Leadership Alumni Scholarship

19 February 2025

Hello I am Gabriel Cambre, and I am a one year student in 20/20 Leadership. I believe most of the things I’ve accomplished this year have been because of this program. I’ve improved myself and my future. I’ve not only learned more things this year than my previous years but have also met some amazing people who are kind-hearted and welcoming friends. From the point of view of the introverted non-talkable type, talking to people in leadership wasn’t a challenge. Athletes, academic enthusiasts, teamwork, and happiness are born from this program/class.

Learning to be open-minded to those I didn’t know was a challenge for me. Being able to call people my friends in front of them confidently was a struggle and telling friends and family I love them is easier now. The will to love. I think compassion, a very big part of who I am, is important to most aspects of life, especially mine. Keeping an open mind, listening to others opinions while being unbiased, asking questions in class without embarrassment, confidence, maturing as a person in society, and learning humility. I’ve done everything I’ve been asked to do. I’ve pushed to sell myself like I was a product on an eBay bid. I’ve joined every dual credit class I could so I could boost my GPA, I’ve helped in any way I could to help my school in their activities, and I’ve left with no regrets. These are things I wouldn’t have been able to do without leadership.

Talking in public is still a challenge and will always be but I won’t shut down and give up when speaking in front of a crowd. I will now push through and deal with the aftermath. I’ve grown to see the world as a canvas, where you can put your stamp or achievement in. “The greatest leader is not necessarily the one who does the greatest things. He is the one that gets the people to do the greatest things.”, Ronald Reagan. This quote holds value to me because of the simple fact that leaving a mark on this world isn’t you but the people you’ve inspired and motivated.

Fun fact, before this class I wanted to go into Software Engineering doing boring stuff and a whole bunch of math, but an assignment that was done in this class got me researching music jobs, and I found Audio Engineering. I know that this class has helped me find the confidence to do a job like this where I have to sell myself to a company to land a job. I find that I now believe in myself when I used to be lost. I find that Leadership 20/20 has made it possible for me to move on to a new chapter in my life with confidence and a better personality. I love the person I have become.

In conclusion, the reason I am who I am is because of 20/20 Leadership. The reason this essay can be written is because of 20/20 Leadership. I’m proud to be a part of such a great organization. I hope to leave my story behind for those who haven’t found their inspiration or hope. I will be an amazing leader and co-worker in my future career. I’m glad to say I won’t be lost out in this world after high school. Everything that I have become and stated in this essay is mostly because of the wonderful program, 20/20 Leadership. Thank you for this opportunity.
