When I think of my growth in the 20/20 leadership program I immediately think of my communication and collaborative skills. As a freshman I had a reserved character. I was too shy to speak to other students that were not from my school, and I was terrified of sharing my own ideas in the group. I felt as though my voice did not matter and I was insecure within myself. After attending programs and participation in projects, I have met so many students, community leaders, and mentors through networking that have shown me it was okay to speak up and be a leader. They have shown me that my voice and opinion matters. This has opened up my communication and collaboration skills not only in the 20/20 leadership community but in every space that I am in.

With the many skills that I have learned through this program, which includes communication, leadership, networking, integrity, courage, and adaptability, I have realized that these are the necessary skills in life. These skills have helped me reach out to colleges, apply to programs, and make life long connections. I will utilize these same skills in order to navigate through my future careers. As said before, networking plays a big role in your ability to enter certain spaces, connections with others, and overall success. 20/20 leadership gave me the ability to network and enter spaces I never thought that I would be able to. I will continue to use networking in order to enter my choice of career. In the business world, many people use the phrase “it is not about what you know, it’s who you know”. This is key to my ability to excel in accounting and real estate. Being an accountant and real estate agent is my dream. I wish to own my own firms and help people with their finances and homes not only in my community but the nation as well. This dream requires the communication, leadership, networking, integrity, courage, and adaptability that I have learned in 20/20 leadership.

Leaving a legacy means leaving a piece of you with the world. When people keep an impression and a lasting idea of you when you are no longer here that is a legacy. Your life lives on when people keep a piece of you with them. I would like to leave a lasting positive impact in this world. I hope to not only fulfill my dreams but hopefully provide something for someone to help reach theirs.  I want to leave something that can help the future generations when I am no longer of this world. My legacy will hopefully be something that is physical as well as mental. Something that people can look at and smile about and feel inspired.  Physically, I wish to have my own business as an accountant as well as a real estate agent. I hope to aid families, couples, and individuals in their financial and home endeavors and put their mind at ease in the process. Along with this I wish to provide jobs to people, and become a mentor to the younger generations. Emotionally, I wish to give hope to people that this world still can bring happiness. Many people have given up in the world and only view it as an evil place. I wish to change their perspective even if it is little, that is what matters to me. That is what a legacy means to me.
