How have I grown as a leader? I believe that I have grown tremendously as a leader. When in middle school I used to try to be a follower getting into fights and different things. As soon as I got into high school I knew I needed to change for the better. Leadership is a big role to play especially when you have younger people looking up to you. When I came into high school I joined every program possible. First came upward bound which is a college readiness program for the youth. Secondly I joined BFI the business and finance institute with prep kc. I am also the Vice President in FBLA ( future business leaders of America).Lastly, my biggest leadership experience is being in the 20/20 leadership class, including the student council. Leadership is a big thing for a high school student. I believe I have contributed to being a leader for all of the new students and my peers. I also believe leadership is helping others like community service. My community service involvement is a lot. I was part of a program called Delta G.E.M.S, a program for young girls to learn about college. We participated in plenty of community service such as making blankets for a women’s homeless shelter. I’m also in a program called cotillion where we do a lot of community service. I have over 15 hours worth of community service. We volunteered in food drives, decorating Christmas buildings, and trunk or treating. I’ve also volunteered in harvesters with my dance team in school.

I will use my tools that I learned with leadership buy using it in my career. My career goal is to be an ob/gyn. I have always wanted to be an ob/gyn since I was a kid. My inspiration to be an ob/gyn came from my mom having cervical cancer. My mother had cervical cancer from my 4th-grade year and she went into remission but it, unfortunately, came back when I was in the 7th grade. My goal is to help young girls not go through the things I went through as a child when I can help their mothers prevent them from getting sick. I want to own my own practice so with leadership I will be able to lead my coworkers as well as my assistant with kindness and help them not talk over them.

Leaving a legacy means wanting something generational for your family. Leaving a legacy is very important for me and my family. When I get my career started I want to be able to leave my business to my kids for them to continue. My Godmother is a part of a sorority and she would love for me to pledge because it would be her legacy. Carrying something on to the next generation is very Nice and important. Leaving a legacy is a traditional thing as well because when you constantly see it happen in your family then more and more would want to have generational things to pass down such as businesses or being an alumnae of a school or of a sorority and fraternity.
