One of the scariest things I had to accomplish during my time in high school was present in front of 17 schools. I’ve always been the reserved student in class; I wouldn’t say I’m shy, but I do like to keep to myself. I’ve learned to grow and push myself with 20/20 leadership. I’ve also learned that you have to take action and you should speak up. There are different ways I have grown as a leader, from being able to speak louder and with more confidence to teaching others. I will use what I have learned from 20/20 leadership in the future in my everyday life. Leaving a legacy is leaving something people will use in the future or what they will remember you by.

In addition, 20/20 has helped me become more confident in the way I speak and act. Like I stated previously, I presented a speech for 17 schools last year as a junior leader. Giving that speech was one of the most nerve wracking moments of my life. I have never spoken to so many people and I am glad I did it because I felt like a true leader after I finished my speech. Also, I’ve learned that it is crucial that you listen to other’s needs as a leader. Being a leader is not about power to rule but power to act.

Moreover, I will use what I learned and keep learning from 20/20 leadership in my future by teaching it to others. I want to teach others to take action. Leadership is also something that I want to pass to younger generations, maybe even my kids. One of the things I have learned in my 20/20 leadership trajectory is to take opportunities. If you have the chance to get an education, take it, education is key in becoming a leader, we always want a leader who knows. I also took a quote from a lady I met through a 20/20 college fair, she said to me, “Women now need an education more than ever, they need to stay educated and informed in order to become leaders and not let some man tell her what to do”.

Furthermore, leaving a “legacy” to me means that you leave something behind that people will use in the future, or something that people will remember you by. I have always heard the word legacy but never gave it any meaning or importance. Now that I am older I think leaving a legacy is the best thing you can do. For example, once I leave high school I want to leave a legacy that my class had the most graduating students. This would be a good legacy because younger students would see it as a cool thing to do and continue to graduate and have the top graduating class. I also think that leaving a legacy is something someone will remember you by. I think 20/20 will leave a legacy in my life, something that I would look back on and be glad I took the opportunity to join this group. I want to be remembered as someone who took chances or someone who helped. My biggest goal in life is to leave knowing I did something, or changed something.
