I am so incredibly blessed to state that I was a part of 20/20 Leadership. Through all of the opportunities and experiences that 20/20 has offered I have learned so much, gotten some pretty neat experiences, and have exponentially improved my leadership and networking skills. I owe 20/20 Leadership a huge thank you for all they have done for me in the past two years.

I joined 20/20 my junior year and I honestly did not know what I was getting myself into. I had heard amazing things about it from older kids at my school and decided to give it a try. I am so glad that I gave it a chance because I have now grown in my leadership in ways I never thought I would. The aspect in which I have bettered my leadership most is by gaining confidence and learning to speak up. 20/20 has taught me that it is okay to be wrong sometimes and that you will never know if you never try. I am no longer embarrassed for guessing the wrong answer to a question, but rather proud of myself for having the courage to take a shot in the first place. From introducing myself to strangers, to having to speak in front of my peers, my confidence and leadership has grown tremendously during my time with 20/20 leadership.

Some of my most memorable experiences included visiting the police station, federal reserve bank, and YMCA. The highlight of our trip to the police station was an officer telling us students how 20/20 leadership helped him and influenced him to get where he got to. My favorite events to network at were at orientations and business/college expos. We played fun games to get to know each other which was a very refreshing introduction to the organization. I learned the most at college visits and informational field trips. When we learned about financial literacy and financial aid, I was almost overwhelmed with the amount of insight and information that I received. There were tips and tricks given to us from those field trips that I’ll never forget. I have gained at least one thing from every single trip with this organization, and got to meet some incredible new people along the way.

The most important thing I have learned from 20/20 and will use in the future is my networking skills. We were taught how to introduce ourselves in both a professional and personable manner. 20/20 also allowed us to practice those skills while meeting different college  and company representatives. I look forward to performing my elevator pitch for many future bosses and work partners. I will think back to 20/20 whenever networking benefits in my future careers and endeavors. Additionally, I will take with me all the financial, educational, and general life advice that 20/20 has provided all of us students with.

For me personally, leaving a legacy involves doing your absolute best to be remembered for the time you gave and the good you did. It is about leaving your mark and having a positive effect on those who come up after you. I hope to leave a legacy in life by being a kind spirited and positive soul. I also hope to represent 20/20 leadership well, as they are responsible for some of my best leadership skills. Once again, I am so grateful for 20/20 leadership and am so happy that I gave it a chance.
