After reflecting on my participation in 20/20 leadership I have grown tremendously as a leader. Before 20/20 I was very shy and had trouble speaking in front of a crowd without having an anxiety attack. After attending multiple field trips and conferences where I was put in situations out of my comfort zone, I learned there is nothing to fear. I can now confidently lead conversations, along with presenting topics in front of a group without having a nervous breakdown.
During the Junior Olympics project, leadership played a key role in its success. Even though my team did not win, I was able to grow as a leader due to brainstorming ideas and presenting them to the group, along with actively communicating with the group to ensure things were moving smoothly. During the Junior Olympics, I learned what it means to actually be a leader. A Leader is someone who inspires, guides, and influences. Leadership involves taking charge and making decisions that align with the goals and values of the group, while also empowering and supporting team members to contribute their own ideas and skills.I was able to learn some of the skills during my time spent with 20/20 .. 20/20 does a great job recognizing when others have accomplished something and as a leader, I want to do the same thing. 20/20 leadership has taught me valuable lessons about leadership.
I will use what I’ve learned in 20/20 leadership to effectively delegate tasks to others. I am now a shift leader at Great Wolf Lodge. This consists of meeting with employees for a daily meeting and explaining new things that are happening for the day, along with making sure everyone knows their assignments for the day. In addition, I will use what I’ve learned to always have great communication since that is one of the most important things to being a leader. I am very grateful to 20/20 because the things I have learned help me in my everyday life and will continue to help me in the future.
What does it mean to leave a legacy? Leaving a legacy means you’ve accomplished something memorable that’s worth cherishing and people will remember it or remember you.
Leaving a legacy means creating a lasting impact that will be remembered and valued long after you’re gone. It’s about making a positive difference in the world, whether it’s through your work, your actions, your ideas, or your relationships. There are many ways to leave a legacy, and the approach you take will depend on the things you have gone through in life. I hope to leave behind a legacy that is meaningful to help give change in the community. After I graduate I will attend school to become an MRI technician, as a woman of color I hope to help add to the medical field since they’re aren’t many MRI techs that are people of color. I hope that other POC can feel like they have someone like them that they can trust and depend on to figure out what is wrong with them through magnetic resonance imaging. The legacy I hope to lelave behind is just because there aren’t many like you doing something doesn’t mean it’s unachievable and to work hard to achieve your goals in life.
