My most important leadership experience in high school is becoming senior class president. This was my most important leadership experience for a multitude of reasons. First, running for senior class president was a wonderful experience. I received  the opportunity to campaign throughout my senior class. Which allowed me to get to know what my peers wanted for their senior year as well as their expectations for me. After campaigning for senior class president I had the pleasure of giving a persuasive speech to my class on why I should be their senior class president. This was exhilarating because I love public speaking. After being elected I jumped right in and started my duties as senior class president Based on their needs and wants that they expressed. These duties consisted of: gathering and creating ideas for events, creating our senior sweatshirt, organizing community service for my peers and aligning details for graduation. These are some of my duties as senior class president.

My first task as senior class president was setting up a trunk or treat for our Middle School and lower school children. My reasoning behind this event was first to give my peers a chance to get community service hours, and secondly to give our younger students a chance to have fun in a safe environment and show that we as upperclassmen care for them.Next I planned an event for just the senior class called the senior sunrise. The Senior Sunrise consisted of us talking about our favorite experience at &&&&& &&&&&&, watching the sunrise and playing tag. This allowed for quality time, creating memories, and reflecting on our lives at &&&&&&& &&&&.My reason doing this event was to allow us to appreciate the simple things in life like a sunrise.

My next task was to help create and design our senior class of 2023 sweatshirts. First I did research to find different themes that we can use for our sweatshirts. After this I opened it up to my classmates to present ideas or drawings on what they wanted on the sweatshirt. After gathering all the themes I made a Google ballot which allowed my senior class to vote on which sweatshirt they liked the most. Throughout this process an obstacle arose in which after the voting took place once the results were in some seniors did not like the outcome. I made the executive decision to allow more themes to be added to the ballot and then administered a revote. After this I Continued with the next steps to making the sweatshirt which was to get the sizes and names. While trying to get names another obstacle arose; in which administration only wanted last names but my peers wanted nicknames. I had to be the spokesman on behalf of my peers to fight for the change and in the end we were successful.

I gained a lot of knowledge and experience becoming senior class presidents and planning these events. The first thing I learned was that there’s no I in team. I say this because I could not plan these events on my own nor could I execute them without my student body. I learned it’s okay not to know everything but definitely make an effort to get the answers and to solve the issue. I learned to value people’s difference of opinions and as a leader I have to take accountability and sometimes that requires making the hard decision. Throughout this process It taught me that being a man of integrity and a man of your word takes you a long way and adds value to you as a leader and as a human being. Lastly I learned that in leading a large group of people you have to agree to disagree, choose your battles wisely, and make sure you all achieve your end goal.

Becoming senior class president has inspired me to further my education to allow me to reach my career goals. After acquiring a bachelor in political science and a Juris Doctorate in law. My career goals are to become a defense attorney helping people that aren’t financially  able to acquire proper legal counsel. In the future I would like to open my own firm  made up of lawyers with a passion for helping others.Next I want to open a non- profit focused on rehabilitation of the homeless in the workforce. Later in my career as a politician I would like to make policies centered around sentencing, affordable housing, and homelessness. Lastly, I would like to become President of The United States. Being senior class president has allowed me to gain the experience of campaigning and being elected. Being senior class president has also allowed me to hone my skills of public speaking which I continue to work on through debate. Furthermore it has given me the experience in leading and guiding my student body as well as making executive decisions.

In conclusion, becoming senior class president has been my most important leadership experience because it has allowed me to give back to my community as well as knowledge and experience and get on the job training for my future career.
