In a community, there are a lot of flaws that we see and decide to improve. A sense of belonging; making people feel at home in their community. One of the biggest traits I feel is necessary in a functioning community. Letting people know it’s ok to be yourself and express yourself respectfully and peacefully is the root of a beautiful working society. Using your career to help a significant cause should be a priority for most individuals. Personally, audio engineering will grant me the voice to elevate this trait in my community. Putting my career to use for this action is something I not only plan to do but something I love to do.
There are a lot of needs in my community, including homelessness, employment rate, and at times discrimination. Every community’s difficulties. Us humans rely on people we believe in or our religion. A community’s pillars are built on this faith and the people in that community gain morality. We believe in people because of their athletic abilities, talent, or unconditional love. Communities are more than just people with differences and unique personas, communities to me are how you use your differences and persona to better the people around you.
A sense of belonging; you tell somebody they are welcome even though you don’t know them, talk to them without judging, help them in a mountain of problems, to show unconditional trust. To belong is a feeling that people give to keep a community upheld or to help an individual. Communities can be any kind of group that will benefit or accept you. Your community will depend on your beliefs and morals. I want to bring a sense of belonging to those who are too shy to ask for help, those who can’t get out of their introverted shell, and those who believe people won’t relate to them.
My future career will be in audio engineering. In this field, I will learn the fundamentals of sound in the film production industry and music production. With film sounds and effects, I hope to be a part of films that bring awareness to not only self-belonging in communities but also other problems within a community. With music, I plan to work with people who make music for the art and have a dream to inspire others. Sharing common goals to reach a similar goal is known as a discourse community, this shows how communities go full circle. Audio engineering is the only career I can see myself doing long term; this is a job I truly enjoy and plan to use for this cause.
Communities are groups of people with the same particular interests; groups of people are people with differences, such as morals, beliefs, personality, and looks. Making people who feel they don’t belong where they do hits deep for me, not because I’ve been rejected from a community, but because I was so shy at a certain point in my life that I didn’t pursue events or after-school activities that I know now I would’ve been good at. To help people get out of their shells and shine like when opening a clam to show a pearl. Letting out that person you were meant to be shine, is a beautiful thing.
I’m a person of a community who puts a sense of belonging in a community on a higher pedestal than some other flaws. I’m a person who believes they can succeed in their career while also targeting this flaw. I’m human, I’m not all perfect or all-knowing. I will try my best to complete my goal, which is to make people who feel as if they don’t belong, belong through Audio Engineering. With that being said, at the end of my journey I want to be an inspirational figure. Thank you for this opportunity.
