In my community, there is a significant need for improved access to women’s wellness resources. Many women, especially those from marginalized backgrounds, struggle to find the support they need for their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Essential services such as access to free hygiene products, hot showers, and physicians can make a major difference in their daily lives, yet these resources are often unavailable or difficult to access. Beyond basic needs, there is also a lack of affordable aesthetician licensing programs, etiquette courses, and mental health resources tailored specifically for women. Additionally, a true women’s wellness space should include access to medical professionals such as OB/GYNs, dermatologists, eye doctors, general physicians, and dentists, all of whom are essential in addressing the unique health concerns that women face. To further enrich and uplift women, I envision a community space that includes a gym, wellness bar, and opportunities for mentorship and education through guest speakers.
The absence of these resources creates gaps in care, education, and personal development, making it harder for women to thrive in their daily lives. Many women in my community do not have access to necessary healthcare services or the knowledge to maintain their physical and mental well-being. Others struggle with self-confidence and financial independence due to limited opportunities for personal development. By addressing these issues, we can create a more empowered and healthier generation of women who have the tools to succeed in all aspects of their lives.
After high school, I plan to study business, which will give me the credentials, knowledge, and skills to start my own company and build a brand centered around women’s wellness. Studying business will allow me to gain expertise in entrepreneurship, management, marketing, and financial literacy—all of which are crucial to launching and sustaining a successful organization. I want to ensure that my future business is structured in a way that allows me to provide these essential services to women in my community, either through direct initiatives, partnerships with professionals, or nonprofit collaborations.
Through my business education, I will learn how to develop and implement strategic plans, manage finances effectively, and create a sustainable model that allows my business to grow while still prioritizing accessibility and affordability. Understanding branding and marketing will help me reach a larger audience and ensure that the women who need these services the most can find them. Additionally, my education will provide me with the networking opportunities and industry connections necessary to partner with professionals in healthcare, wellness, and personal development to bring my vision to life.
By applying the skills I gained through my business studies, I plan to establish a community-driven women’s wellness center that offers the resources my community currently lacks. This center will provide free hygiene products, showers, and laundry facilities for women in need, ensuring that every woman has access to basic necessities that contribute to dignity and self-care. It will also serve as a space for women to receive professional guidance, including mental health counseling, etiquette courses, and training programs for those interested in beauty and wellness careers.
In addition to these services, I aim to collaborate with healthcare professionals to offer on-site or partnered services from OB/GYNs, dermatologists, optometrists, general physicians, and dentists. This will ensure that women in my community receive comprehensive healthcare tailored to their unique needs.
