Gene Denton Essay 20

As the oldest, I wasn’t sure what I planned to study after high school. I don’t have any older siblings I can look up to, to figure out. Since I don’t have any older siblings I can look up to, it’s not that easy what people would say. “Just pick what you wanna do, it’s not that hard.” They say. Surely I can have that mindset but it’s not as easy as people think. People who have siblings might have something different, they can be opposite, or maybe it’s easier for them where they can look up to and pursue the same careers as their siblings. But not for me though. The only thing I can think about is what I wanna be and my plans after high school.

My freshman year I wasn’t really focused on that. I wasn’t that serious about life after high school because it’s so far away. My main focus was really getting my assignments done and passing my classes. Which was easy I can say because I was an independent student, shy, quiet, and not a talkative student but made sure everything got done. That’s what most of my teachers would say too which im not surprised though because that’s how I describe myself too. Even though freshman year is just the beginning, it’s important to still be serious about it because it does count later on into your high school and beyond. At least that’s from my experience. Continuing on with my freshmen year into my sophomore year, it is pretty much the same thing. A shy, quiet, independent, and not that talkative person that does work in time. I really wouldn’t say much for my sophomore year too. I didn’t pay much attention to my afterlife in high school and haven’t thought about what I wanna be.

I mean well, I always wanted to be a lawyer when I was little but that changed when it came to my junior and senior year. This is where I am stressed out and don’t know what to do. And can I say, time does fly by, blink of an eye. It is my senior year and this is where I finally decide what I wanna be and my plan after high school. I know I didn’t talk much about my junior year and went kind of into my senior year but that’s because it was pretty much the same as my freshmen and sophomore year so talking about my senior year is more important. Plus it leads right into my plans after high school. I am 18 and knowing the path to my life that is where my college advisor helped me on it. Helps me decide what I would be capable of doing and the career that would fit the best for me if I’m undecided. But I already know my plan after high school. It was to be a nurse and get into healthcare life. Even though I don’t have older siblings, that’s where my college advisors came in to help and guide me knowing they care. I will forever be grateful for them, for helping me, and making it less stressful about getting into college and figuring out what I need to do in order to be what I wanna be, and to be successful.

Since I know what my plan after high school is, my future education will help me impact that need within my community in a positive way and and a beneficial outcome. It can make my family proud being the first generation graduate and persuading me into my future success without thinking negatively. Help the community by making me the person anyone can rely on and that can come up to if they need help. Having their question answered to get the answer they need. Being a good representative to the community.

All this amazing stuff I’m pursuing and putting great effort into will be a great need within my community because it can be useful to people that go the same path or an inspiration to them. The community would like to get more nurses around that can be considered something we need because saving lives is a need and something to the community and outside of the community, saving life or getting into healthcare is what I truly want to do later in life.
