Senior 19

Hi, my name is Carrington Frazier and I am a senior at Washington High School. At the very beginning of my high school career, I wasn’t given the same start that most people in the years before me had received. COVID was around and we had to keep a safe distance. Through that time I worked hard to keep myself afloat and ahead of the curve. Through those trials, I got myself through with help from teachers and fellow students. Towards the beginning of my junior year, I made the conscious decision to keep myself involved in my school, whether it was in a club or organization I was going to do everything in my power to keep a consistent presence.

So, I officially joined 20/20 Leadership and I loved it. I loved the experiences it provided and the open-mindedness it blessed me with. I met amazing people who have inspired me to pursue a career in the engineering field. I also became part of NHS, and College Ambassadors, and towards the end of my junior year, I was accepted into the Senior Board. Senior Board is a senior-led club and we handle all of the functions and events that the senior class will have. At the very beginning of my senior year, I was granted the senior board president position. As president of the senior board, I am in charge of making sure things are running smoothly, I keep all contact with the administration, I lead group discussions, and I work with the other officers helping me lead the senior board.

I am happy with my experiences during my time on the Senior Board, 20/20 Leadership, College Ambassadors, as well as NHS (National Honor Society). Every one of those positions that I hold has influenced me to pursue leadership roles in college. I work hard for my family, I will be the first to go to college in nearly 7 years and I plan on ending that streak. My close-in-age relatives decided to work straight out of high school and the experience of taking a kid to college becomes a family celebration I plan on giving my family the opportunity to experience that again before the next generation grows up.

For many years people have told me I have had a knack for leadership and in my last couple of years in high school, I have worked to prove them right. First, it was just keeping to my schooling and making sure I lead by example and not because it looks good on a college application. My junior and senior years were the times when I really dug down and really put the work in with community service and getting involved in my school’s community as well. This has been the path I have been on since I was in the early stages of school. It goes from being the line leader to being in charge of your organization helping other people pursue their dreams too. That is the kind of impact that I would hope my leadership would have. To inspire people the same way other people have inspired me. With this scholarship, I would be able to pursue my future to any college that I desire to go to, whether it is in Kansas or out of state. The possibilities are infinite.
