I have demonstrated a commitment to leadership service in numerous ways. Not only just volunteering in my community but also leading people down a promising path. The promising path of inclusiveness and thoughtfulness. It is essential to not only learn for yourself but also learn for others. Committing to leadership and volunteerism opens up my heart to helping others. I have noticed how involved I have become over the years after committing to leadership and volunteer service.

I have several classes and clubs where I hold leadership roles. These include FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America), treasure of my senior class, National Honor Society, Harvesters, and Student Government & Citizenship. In FBLA, I hold the President position. One thing we hosted this year was the shoe drive. Each advisory class was responsible for trying to bring in the most shoes they could donate. I set the start by donating over nine pairs of shoes. It was nice to clean out my closet and allow those who cannot afford shoes to be comfortable. During our food pantry drive, Harvesters delivers crates of food for us to pack up and give to families once a month. While we give the food away, we enjoy seeing the smiles on families’ faces when they know they have no worries. Lastly, in student government, we are setting the tone for the school and being the face of our school. We handle spirit days, assemblies, rallies, and more. We also donate and contribute back. We did a canned goods drive that spread across the whole school. It was nice seeing all the bags of cans that people donated. In these clubs, we are letting people know that it is great to contribute back to your community.

In my entrepreneurship class, we had the job of creating a service or product. We had the option to create anything we wanted. My group and I decided to create a minority scholarship website. This website would spotlight scholarships and teach students how to write essays, how to understand eligibility requirements, and more. We hope to receive the funding to launch this website soon.

In the future, I hope to learn new leadership skills and share them with my community. The college I will be attending is all about inclusiveness. I hope to meet new people and collaborate and network. Not only do I want to contribute to their community, but I want to learn how to help my community. During school breaks, I want to come back and talk to the younger students at my school. I want to encourage them to put themselves in a position to exceed. Although the reputation of my school is not as high as I would have hoped for, I still want to encourage the high school students to change the narrative as much as possible. I don’t want them to change only for outside perspectives but for themselves. I want them to be happy to go to school and create possibilities.
