I have demonstrated leadership in many different ways at my school and community. I am a part of a lot of leadership organizations at school such as the National Honors Society (NHS) and help organize events. I also am the vice president (soon to be president) of Medical Club which is a club for students to broaden their interests and educate them about the medical field. We organize events for that club and host meetings which I run and do mostly the talking and games. I am a part of the Asian Student Union (ASU) in which I participate in club meetings by helping others set up. I always take part in our ‘Present-ASIAN’ which is a cultural show displaying various types of Asian culture so I educate many of my peers on that. I am a part of the KU TRIO Talent Search program which also incorporated with that is the YES Scholars program. This program lets you volunteer to gain community service hours, within those hours: you can do certain types of things like help package mail to many of the other students in the program so they get their newsletters, you also mentor students over the phone with school, college applications, clubs, extracurriculars and so on. I played Flag Football for one year in my 11th grade year in which I played the position of the center and receiver. We were the first team in Wyandotte County and also in the state of Kansas, so we had gotten a lot of benefit from that. In this sport, I displayed leadership by communicating with my teammates, I supported them and gave them proper advice even as a friend. Through this support, we placed first in our league and won rings. Prior to the win, starting from the beginning of the formation of the team, we had also gotten the opportunity to shoot a video ad with the sport/glasses brand Oakley.

How I hope to demonstrate leadership in the future is by being a support system overall, I want to expand my support and aid others into making sure they know they are not alone. I want to step up for those who are not able to do so and help them get the experiences they deserve. By this, being a leader, I hope that others become inspired to become leaders and follow similar tracks. By pursuing the medical field, I know leadership is a big factor, which I am fully committed to because without leadership, we cannot progress as a community. I want to be able to have more options to be a leader and take on more leadership roles, in hopes that someone will take on after me and be a better leader than I was because that’s what leaders do. Leaders grow. By also demonstrating leadership in my future, it’ll not only help others, but also it will help me. With that, I can train myself to be a better leader day-by-day and learn new things as I progress onto my life, because leaders are also learners.
