Leadership is a powerful source that can change a person and ignite inspiration within those around us. As a senior in high school going into adulthood, I never got the chance for someone to tell me to be a leader, to help lead others in success, and to be the one who tells people I worked hard for it. I taught myself to be a leader through my ups and downs and to succeed independently. During those times, I learned that being a leader not just means leading people but to have courage, dedication, and a genuine desire to make a difference. Throughout my academic journey, I embraced opportunities to demonstrate leadership and make a future where I can envision myself as a leader for my younger peers who not only guide but also inspire others to reach their full potential. I’ve come to understand and realize that leadership isn’t just about being in charge; it’s about making a positive impact in the lives of others.

In school, I’ve had the opportunity to demonstrate leadership through various activities and roles. Whether it’s leading group projects, organizing activities or events, like sports tournaments, clubs, and extracurricular activities, or community service projects. I’ve always strived to lead and lend a helping hand whenever doing something that involves teamwork and collaboration.  As a captain of the Restorative Justice program that mediates conflicts, I learned to listen actively, communicate effectively, and calm any situation to resolve the problem.

Outside of school, I’ve dedicated myself to serving my community in meaningful ways. I’ve shown leadership by taking initiative, being reliable, and showing compassion towards others to help with their needs and my acts of service. I’ve learned that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference in the lives of others. My participation in community service has taught me the importance of giving back and being a responsible leader.

Knowing that I am graduating from high school, I am looking ahead to reach my goals to go to college and study Psychology, in the Mental Health Social Work industry. I want to develop my leadership skills and make a positive impact in the world whether it’s pursuing my social work career or being a leader to help people positively strive mentally. Outside of my career, I plan to pursue community service where I am committed to being a leader who leads with integrity, empathy, and compassion. I believe that by demonstrating leadership in school and my community, I can inspire others to do the same and create a brighter future for all.

In the end, Leadership isn’t just about titles or positions; it’s about the actions we take and the impacts we make on others. As a senior in high school, I am proud to say that I will continue to be a leader and that I can be in a public school to help me undertake the difference I’ve been able to make. As I look towards the future, I am excited about the opportunities I may have to continue growing as a leader and making a positive difference in the world around me.
