Senior Essay 11
I have been able to use my leadership abilities both in my school and community on multiple occasions. Being a part of the National Honor Society and Women in Leadership has given me a huge opportunity to step up and lead by example. Through community service hours and organized events, we are constantly getting involved and finding new ways to support others. These experiences have taught me that leadership is not just about holding a title, but about being dependable, responsible, and willing to put in the work even when no one is watching. Since the beginning of last year, I have also been a sponsor and very involved in the cadeting program. Taking on this responsibility pushed me out of my comfort zone and challenged me to grow. Creating a club required serious time and confidence. I had to find another co-chair, connect with a sponsor, and clearly communicate our goals. Organizing three fundraisers for the club was not always easy, but it strengthened my ability to plan ahead, delegate tasks, and motivate others to participate. I learned how important teamwork and communication are when trying to accomplish something meaningful. Helping plan activities and events for our members showed me that leadership is about making sure everyone feels included and valued. While still being able to have fun. Through these experiences, I have realized that leadership is about service. It means being someone others can rely on and trust, no matter who they are. Whether I am helping organize a service project, leading a meeting, or supporting younger students, I try to lead with patience and understanding. I have also learned that good leaders listen. By listening to different perspectives, l am able to make more thoughtful decisions and create a more positive environment for everyone involved.
In the future, I hope to continue demonstrating leadership in my career and community. Becoming a special education teacher will not only give me the opportunity to be a leader in the classroom but also an advocate for students who may not always have a voice. I want to create a classroom where every student feels supported, respected, and capable of success. Leadership in special education means standing up for students’ needs, collaborating with families and staff, and making sure each child receives the resources they deserve. While being able to bring light to the classroom and have fun. Beyond the classroom, I hope to remain active in my community by organizing events, mentoring students, nurturing bonds with coworkers, and encouraging others to get involved. My goal is to use the skills I have developed in high school, carrying them through college and into my future. It will take organization, communication, empathy, and dedication to make a lasting impact. Leadership is not something that ends after graduation and starts again in a career; it is a lifelong commitment to growth and service. I am confident that the lessons I have learned through the National Honor Society, Women in Leadership, and the cadeting program will continue to shape me into a compassionate and effective leader for years to come.
