Senior Essay 15
In my life, I feel like I have demonstrated leadership in many ways. But I feel like one has really stood out. During my senior year, I wanted to join student council because it has been my passion to be on student council ever since freshman year. And it has always been full, or I didn’t qualify. But when I had the opportunity to join student council, I took it. The position I applied for was student involvement. What that position does is basically get involved with the students, like planning homecoming or pep rallies. And planning events has been a really big thing for me ever since I saw other students do it. So when I got the email saying I got accepted into that position, I was so happy. I got to meet the other council members and talk with them about our school events coming up, and it was really fun for me to be able to be with people who also like helping our school community.
The first events we had to plan were spirit week, the prep rally, and homecoming. We decided on the theme, which was hard because many people had so many ideas, and they were all really great, but eventually we decided on Hollywood. The theme was great, and we had plenty of things we could buy to decorate. But the problem was not many people on the student council could help decorate because it was the day of homecoming, and many people had to get ready and didn’t have the time. But I came to the school to help decorate because I wanted the decorations to look nice for everyone. And it was only five of us helping decorate the gym, and it took three hours and a lot of hard work to make sure everything was perfect. And even though I missed my nail appointment, I still got to help my school community. Because homecoming is for everyone’s enjoyment.
How I plan to demonstrate leadership in the future is when I attend university, I plan on joining student council. I plan on doing things to improve our community around us and in our school. Because that is where many students are going to be, so why not make a greater community.
