Senior Essay 55
Leadership has always been bestowed on me since the beginning of my Academic Journey. In elementary I was constantly told that I had more respect than my peers and that I was willing to help anyone who needed it. A quick title given to me changed me for the better, even at such early of an age. I would continue through elementary to show these skills while being on, Safety Patrol, Book club, and also on student council. Not only did this relationship with me and leadership just be prominent in school but it began to flourish outside of school as-well. Dance competitions with my team became one of the most demonstrated acts of leadership in my youth. It became my job to not only demonstrate the highest of skill but to also encourage it from others. Helping the team harmonize of when to start and stop the dance and also cheering for other teams as we would have wanted ourselves.
The transition from elementary school to middle school served as a learning point of my youth being that I wanted to fit in with the popular group of children. This lead me to fall into the wrong crowd and what most teens tend to do; being someone they are not. I had gotten in trouble for messing around in class with students and my teacher talked to me personally about how this was not okay and that it was a bit of a disappointment from them being that I typically do not behave like this. I quickly made up in my mind that it was okay to be myself and regain direction of my lifestyle and physical situation. This shows that not only is being a leader a physical title given but how it is also a mindset that constantly needs work and criticism. All leaders are not good people and all good people aren’t leaders. It takes a-lot of work to be a leader and also a lot of perspective. To be a good leader to have to take notes from those before you and ahead of you because everyone is not perfect. A-lot of times in this world anything you do can be an issue. It is your responsibility to take leadership and regain the reigns of yourself. I hope to further the demonstration of my leadership skills in the work force and also in my community. I will also take leadership and pride into the college setting being that this is one of the major steps for me to further my skills into the workforce. The world constantly provides a test of who can be a leader and I feel like with the series of struggles and demonstrations, I feel like I have what is in me to prove myself during the development of my adulthood. Leadership isn’t something you can put in a box it is free ,creative, awakening and so much more. it encourages strength and motivation that end up providing you with long term success.
