Senior Leadership Scholarship Essay 27

I have been fortunate to be heavily involved as a leader in my school and community. At school, I am on the board of our Key Club chapter and the vice president of our national honors society. These are two clubs focused on serving and reinvesting in our community. This has given me a plethora of opportunities to help my community at local events. I also volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and NourishKC frequently to gain more community service hours. Another activity that has kept me heavily involved in my community is scouting. Being an Eagle Scout is simply a symbol of my tenure of serving and helping the community through scouting. I am treasurer of our school’s Diversity Club as well as head of recruiting for our school’s Distributive Education Clubs Of America(DECA). Within DECA I helped grow our club from around 8 active members to over 20. This also includes ensuring our members are interested in DECA and the competitions and not simply looking for a ticket out of class. One characteristic that has helped me succeed as a leader is how caring I am. I am very thoughtful for the greater good of humanity and I am always ready to help others in need. This could be simple things like turning off lights or running faucets. But it is also helping people who are struggling. I am quick to help people who are struggling in class and need some extra help. I am quick to volunteer at things that will impact my community. I am quick to help people in need and who are having a hard time. This all has built me into a strong leader that other people are happy to follow. Anyone can follow instructions but when the people you are leading feel needed when doing their tasks they are more willing to do it and do it properly. I take the lead in many group projects because I can motivate others to put effort into the task at hand. A lot of people try less when in a group because they think someone will simply finish the assignment and do their part for them. I make sure everyone is doing their part to the best of their ability and ensure they are getting help in the areas they need. Going forward I plan on continuing this trend of being a strong leader. When you take charge you also have a bit more control over what is going on. When I lead I know what is quality work and what teachers or administrators want so I can meet and exceed these standards. I hope to continue helping others by being the helping hand people need when looking for guidance. This also ties into my desired future career as a financial consultant. Being a strong, trustworthy leader is essential in this field since people are putting so much trust into your work. You need to be clear with your plans and be able to communicate these ideas well to your clients. I think with the experience I have and the experience I plan to gain I will be very successful at expressing these things to my clients. Leadership is a rare quality that keeps the world running smoothly and continuing to build my already strong leadership skills will help me find success as well as assist others in finding theirs.
