Senior 36
I have demonstrated leadership in my school and community in various ways. I am very involved with school whether it is academic, extracurricular, or sports related. I also love being an active part of my community, helping out, and getting to know others that I coexist with. I lead with kindness, hope, optimism, perseverance, resilience, and motivation and sincerely hope that some have been affected by my leadership in a positive way. I hope to continue to lead throughout the entirety of my life and to learn many lessons while doing so.
At school, I have always felt like a leader. From Kindergarten all the way to my senior year I have tried my best to lead by example and get others to follow my lead. I was initially a silent leader. Do not get me wrong, I was very talkative in elementary school. However, I led with actions rather than words. By doing things like being kind to others and participating in class, I often sensed others following my lead. Throughout high school I have learned how to become a vocal leader, while still possessing my unique role of leading by example. I have gained so much insight from those who led before me and use different aspects of their leadership in my own leadership. My biggest leadership role in high school currently is being Senior Class President.
An aspect of my life in which I’ve had to lead in my community is through dance. I started dancing at my dance studio when I was 2 years old and now am one of the oldest at my studio. It is absolutely crazy to think about how the tables have turned, but I have gained so many leadership skills and abilities along the way. As mentioned prior, my main form of leadership is leading by example. I believe that people are always watching and following you, especially in an environment like a dance studio. I know that I watched the dancers that came up above me, so I assume the same of current young dancers at my studio. I try my absolute best to lead by being hard working, positive, disciplined, and most importantly showing them that dance should be fun! I have realized that my mood can heavily affect those around me at my studio, so I am constantly aware of my attitude.
As I enter adulthood, college, and eventually my career industry I hope to continue expanding my leadership skills, while still demonstrating those skills that I have had since the beginning. I plan on attending the University of Kansas to study film and media. After graduating with my degree I hope to find an occupation, my top two career choices being cast director and film director. My plans could easily change, but one thing that I am certain of is that I will work in the film/entertainment/performing arts industry. It is well known that there are a lot of shady things that go down in Hollywood and the other surrounding industries that I want to be a part of one day. I will use my leadership to be a light in an often dark place and hope that others play off of my energy. I will lead with all the qualities that I do presently.
In conclusion, I have continuously demonstrated leadership throughout my school and community, and continue to do the same and more throughout my future. I sincerely hope that others have been and will continue to be positively affected by my leadership.
