My Leadership was a journey of self-discovery and growth, another path I wasn’t sure i would undergo through the 20/20 Leadership program. This essay allowed me to reflects on my transformation, self-growth and explain how I have grown as a leader through field trips, stepping out of my comfort zone, networking, and other experiences. I will also discuss how I plan to apply these lessons in my future career in healthcare and what “leaving a legacy” means to me.

The 20/20 Leadership program has built me as a person in everyway possible, shaping my leadership skills, primarily through its experiencing/learning approach. One of the most impactful aspects of the program has been the field trips. These trips exposed me to a verity of workplaces and leadership styles, that expended my understanding of effective leadership. For example, having to socialize with different schools groups.

 The program pushed me out of my comfort zone, encouraging me to embrace new challenges and opportunities for growth. I consider myself an introverted person, and networking was difficult for me. However, after various networking events and workshops, I learned the importance of building relationships and realized it’s not as scary as I made it seem and it would help me achieve my future goals. This has been extremely useful when expanding my professional network and ability to work well in a group effectively.

Furthermore, the program provided me with opportunities to develop essential leadership skills, such as communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and more. Through group projects I learned the ability to lead and inspire others, even in challenging circumstances. These experiences gave me the confidence boost I didn’t know I needed to grow and step into the next phase of my life. 

As I look to the future, I am excited to apply the lessons learned from the 20/20 Leadership program in my career in healthcare. I am particularly passionate about improving my community’s patient care and education. My new leaderships skills will help me throughout my college career.

Finally, “leaving a legacy” to me means leaving behind something that others can remember me by or that can help them get through what I went through. Whether it’s getting accepted to colleges, earning a certification in high school, or learning to be yourself and not letting others get to you. I hope to leave a lasting impact on the healthcare industry someday. One day i will Inspire others to lead with purpose, and to never forget where you came from. 

In conclusion, my participation in the 20/20 Leadership program has been a transformative journey, allowing me to grow as a leader and prepare for a career in healthcare. Through field trips, stepping out of my comfort zone, networking, and other experiences, I have gained valuable insights and skills that I plan to apply in my future. Ultimately, I will one day leave a legacy that positively impacts the healthcare industry.
