Senior 7

One of the scariest things I had to accomplish during my time in high school was present in front of 17 schools. I’ve always been the reserved student in class; I wouldn’t say I’m shy, but I do like to keep to myself. I believe it has to do with the fact that I am bilingual and my first language is spanish; I am scared of not being able to speak correctly and/or begin speaking in Spanish, since I speak more “spanglish”. Some ways I have demonstrated leadership in my school or community are getting involved, helping as much as I can, and volunteering. Some ways I hope to demonstrate leadership in my future are, by creating more organizations for younger generations to succeed in the future, I also want to demonstrate leadership by listening to my communities’ needs, and I want to enforce teaching kids how to be future leaders. 

Furthermore, I have always tried to involve myself in what I can. I love to help people out, whether it’s my friends, family or community. I’m currently involved in 20/20 leadership, NHS, and Student Board of Directors for the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. I also involve myself by tutoring sophomores for Avid and giving new students tours around the school. Another way I try to involve myself is by helping out as much as I can. 

Moreover, like I stated previously, I am in 20/20 leadership and I also did it my junior year of high school. I am currently helping the juniors this year with their olympics project, which is opening up a café at school as a fundraiser to help fix up the school. I work at Starbucks so I have experience as a barista, they asked me for help and I was more than happy to. I have been helping them create a menu, teaching them how to make drinks, and helping them choose what to order to get a coffee shop running. Also, I help out my community by volunteering. 

In addition, I am also in the National Honor Society and I am required to have 30 hours of community service. I have always wanted to volunteer but I never knew how to. Now that I know how to, I will definitely continue to help out my community. A non-profit organization I volunteer at, is also a coffee shop. Another service I volunteer at is the public library for different events they host. 

Lastly, I want to create organizations for future generations to succeed; Some are study groups, opening late libraries or coffee shops for study time. I also want future generations to have the opportunity to graduate and continue their education. I also want to listen to my community and fulfill any needs. If there are too many homeless people roaming around, I want to be able to help out as much as I am allowed to. Also, I want to encourage kids to take action as future leaders, I want to encourage teaching the need of leaders. I want kids to step up and don’t be afraid to speak up. 

In conclusion, I wish to continue taking leadership in my future. I want to help my community and talk about how important being a leader is. We need to normalize taking action and standing up for our community. If there is any opportunity to expand my leadership, I will take it.
