People can be considered leaders in various contexts and context-specific ways. A wide range of people expresses it in a variety of ways. There is a person who conveys it through the fact that they exert influence on others, accept responsibility, or just assist others. My leadership criteria for school include finishing assignments on time and accepting responsibility for my actions. In matters of the community, I maintain a firm stance, give back, and always give my best effort.

As far as school, I do take school seriously, so when it’s time to do an assignment, I do it. Even if I have to put things off until the last minute, I will get them done. I set goals for myself for all four years of high school, and the major one was getting work done no matter the expense. Even though it can be difficult to ask for assistance at times, I will do so if it becomes necessary. If there was a writing project, I would ask other people to review my work before submitting it. This is because I am aware that even if I do my work, I still want a decent mark on it.

I will put off doing the work that is ultimately my responsibility, ask for help, and do other things to avoid doing it. I am willing to accept responsibility for the errors that I have committed. A test for which I have not studied, an assignment that I procrastinated on completing until the very last minute, etc. I am willing to take responsibility for my actions and consider this a valuable opportunity for personal growth.

When it comes to being of service to the community, I just consider it to be a moral act on my part. It’s not about how many hours of community service I’ll get out of this or anything else like that. If I can be of assistance somewhere else, I will be there. For instance, one of my favorite things to do is volunteer in the neighborhood. I have provided food for the homeless through the church, and if I have the opportunity, I make it a point to donate money to individuals who are homeless, even if I don’t have any of my own because I don’t want to see anyone in that kind of predicament.

I want to be a leader in the future so that I may share my experiences with other people, help them learn from my mistakes so that they don’t make the same ones I did, and show them that it’s alright to give back whenever you can. I’ll also show you why it’s not a bad thing to take responsibility for the errors you’ve committed. In my opinion, it is impossible to be a leader if you don’t admit your mistakes and shortcomings. You, along with other potential leaders, won’t be flawless in your roles as leaders. As long as you keep your head up, stand strong, and stand your ground, you’ll influence others to do the same.
