Leadership can be described as a particular attitude that involves treating people in a particular manner and taking appropriate action when people expect certain behavior. Thus, in my opinion, being a leader means supporting and helping others in various situations.
First of all, being a leader for me implies working within a team productively. Often, members of a team may be silent participants or, conversely, attempt to take over. However, I prefer to create a compromise situation wherein each member feels responsible and productive. In most cases, first of all, I try to allocate roles and responsibilities among the members of a team in the most effective manner, while also asking other members what tasks they would like to perform. Besides, if some members have problems understanding or performing the assigned task, I never embarrass them; I only give additional information that will help them.
Additionally, I try to be a helpful participant in different situations. As far as the classroom environment is concerned, I attempt to become a leader for those members of our class who are ignored or treated poorly by others. Although this may look insignificant, such an approach to working in a team can help to
This way, everyone will feel included and treated properly and be encouraged to participate actively in different social, educational, and professional processes. I have already observed that small things, such as including somebody in a circle or encouraging a person to express his or her opinion, may help to create an atmosphere that fosters confidence.
Furthermore, I believe it is crucial to be a role model of an effective leader in terms of behavior and attitude towards work and people. In order to motivate people around me, I need to be focused on achieving my goals, accomplish all tasks assigned to me punctually, and maintain respectful relations with others in all circumstances. As people tend to evaluate leaders based on their actions and not words, it is essential to set an example in order to make a change.
In the future, I hope to gain new leadership experiences in order to further develop my skills and abilities. Specifically, I would like to take up more responsibilities and challenges and work in environments where I would be able to guide other individuals effectively. It includes organizing group projects, working as a mentor for other young people, helping to plan activities for my community, and communicating my ideas assertively.
Another goal for future development is to become a good listener and pay attention to the various opinions and needs of others. This aspect is essential for building strong relationships with followers, since in this case, a leader may demonstrate respect for other people and motivate them to cooperate.
To sum up, I regard leadership as a process rather than a moment that requires constant development and self-improvement. Being supportive, being a role model, and gaining new skills and competencies are some of the main factors that contribute to being a good leader.
