After high school, I am going to major in creative writing and environmental sciences at either the University of Kansas, Lincoln University, or Northwest University. The school I really want to go to is Northwest University because they have a horizon of programs in their abroad program, including writing studies! When 2020 took us there for a tour I just knew they had everything to offer me such as their affordable tuition, sport and gym openings, nice room and board, writing classes, a fond library, and lastly their study abroad. I’ve chosen to pursue environmental studies because I am drawn to how our humanity affects our ecosystem and everyday lives. I want to pursue this in many ways, for example, I am going to become an author that writes poetry books about the nature we live in. I also want to travel to cost lines with my studies, and get hands-on experience with staying pollution-free. I am going to invest in publishing my very first poetry book by the time I am 19 or 20 (at the latest). My book will consist of poetry for coming-of-age audiences filled with content helping lead them with inspiration and motivation to form into their own person. I’ve been writing since the 3rd grade, so it really clicks and resonates with me. I will be an author until my love for writing dies, but my love for the planet will never fade away. I imagine myself traveling, meeting new people, listening to their stories, and providing help within their community’s environment.

My future is based on my strive to succeed and fulfill my goals of being a great example not only to my community but to my family. Once my younger siblings get to where I am in life, I’ll make sure to mention 2020 leadership availability along with other programs to help them gain a better education. As a leader, I want to educate younger generations along with elders about the importance of keeping our environment safe and clean. I’ve found an organization through a college fair 2020 participated in and it made me so happy that there were people with the same interest as me in my city. I was even more fascinated to hear that they were worldwide travelers! Helping countries in need globally with their ecosystems.

I feel the need in my community within Kansas City needs is a less polluted environment that I wish to accomplish. It seems like every side of the highway is just filled with non-degradable trash that number one, doesn’t make our city look good, and number two is harmful to our animals. Even though, our city prioritizes urbanized issues more than environmental issues it still affects our everyday lives and is usually neglected by my people. I do as much as I can now with spreading awareness, but with the right connections, education, and resources I could let my working words reach any crowd I aim for. The first crowd I am going for is my home wishing to bring some stability. Gaining as many scholarships as I can I’m going to use them to help pay for my schooling. Once I get the education I yearn for I can create as many books as I desire and make them available to any and everyone! Thank you 2020 for bringing me these new sceneries and opportunities. Here I will display one of my poems in my rough draft.

Fall into my eyes

Crawl out of the tear ducts fill with charcoal-like streams

Stream down my pale cheeks.

Seep into my skin

Pump through  my veins

Cave deep within

Living in a loop makes me insane

Are you the destined evil

Or me?

As I look above and gaze at the deciduous trees

Your imperfect colors attract me

Timid with your presence

Limited suffrage

My love has been printed.

Your veins

Fall into my eyes so I can view these colors differently, maybe more vibrant

Not a single tear fell

Instead, I’m pushed away by your winds

Hoping to land and build some better grounds.
